Lynda Turner has struggled with depression since her husband abandoned her and their young daughter fifteen years ago. Yet unexpected hope awakens when a local ex-convict shows interest. As long-hidden secrets resurface, Lynda must fight for her emotional stability and for a life where the shadow of shame is replaced by the light of love. Jilted tells of a woman who has lost the joy of living, a man determined to draw her back toward happiness, and a town that must–once and for all–leave the past where it belongs. It is a gentle reminder that all things can work together for good.
Being part of the Litfuse Blogger Book Review Program, I get to read some very interesting books that I wouldn’t necessarily have the opportunity to read. Sometimes I’m provided with books to read from authors I’ve never heard of, even though they are very popular in the literary world. Today’s book is Jilted by Varina Denman, and here’s my mom’s review:
“Jilted is the third book in the Mended Hearts series, but can serve as a stand alone book on its own. I did not read the two prior books Jaded and Justified, and I feel that if I had read the first two it would have added to my enjoyment of Jilted.
The story in Jilted takes place in a quiet small town of Trapp, Texas. As in most small towns, gossip and news spreads quickly. The memorable characters in this story are Lynda Turner and Clyde Felton. Lynda is doubtful that love and happiness will ever be hers until Clyde an old friend and an ex-convict shows interest in her and hope awakens. Lynda’s husband left her and young daughter Ruthie behind fifteen years ago.
Lynda, struggling with depression, had withdrawn from the community and Clyde had to adjust when returning after time in prison to Trapp and face the community he left behind. Because these characters are older and had already missed so much of their lives, I wanted to help them Mrs. Denman told and wrote this story so well that you felt part of this little town and a friend to Lynda and Clyde.

As secrets which had been hidden for years comes out again Lynda must fight to keep her emotions stable, getting out of living in shame, and receive the love that her old friend Clyde is offering. This final secret is shocking.
At the end of this book all ends are neatly tied up and I am sorry that my visit to Trapp, Texas has finished and I will miss Lynda and Clyde and all the others. I really enjoyed reading Jilted, and look forward to reading Jaded and Justified soon!”
