Love, betrayal, and sweet revenge—life in Cottonbloom is about to get a whole lot hotter . . .
Sutton Mize is known for lavishing attention on the customers who flock to her boutique on the wealthy side of her Mississippi town. So when she finds a lace thong in her fiancé’s classic cherry-red Camaro, she knows just who she sold it to: her own best friend. In an instant, Sutton’s whole world goes up in flames. . .
Wyatt Abbott has harbored a crush on Sutton since he was a young kid from the other side of the tracks. He witnessed Sutton’s shocking discovery in the Camaro at his family-owned garage—and it made him angry. What kind of man could take lovely, gorgeous Sutton for granted? But then Sutton comes up with an idea: Why not give her betrothed a taste of his own medicine and pretend that she’s got a lover of her own? Wyatt is more than happy to play the hot-and-heavy boyfriend. But what begins as a fictional affair soon develops into something more real, and more passionate, than either Sutton or Wyatt could have imagined. Could it be that true love has been waiting under the hood all along?
From time to time, I have the opportunity to read and review books from St. Martin’s Press. Today’s book is Leave the Night On by Laura Trentham. While the book has the same title as the Sam Hunt song, they have nothing to do with each other. Just thought I’d put that out there. I tried to remember Laura Trentham, but I don’t think I’ve ever read any of her other books. I even checked her website to review titles of her other books thinking I must have since the name sounded so familiar. But I guess not.
Anyway…… onto the book. Leave the Night On is an awesome romance. It’s well written and a quick read – perfect for the beach or a rainy day. While the plot is familiar, it flows well and keeps you turning pages from cover to cover. The story mixes the good girl with the bad boy from the other side of the river. It provides readers with family drama and confused feelings, while at the same time it leads readers through Sutton’s discovery of who she is.
The Abbott family is a hard working blue collar family. Wyatt Abbott is strong and loyal but has a reputation that carries to both sides of the state line. He’s a very sweet guy who has great character and has a heart of gold. Wyatt has a twin brother, Jackson and an older brother, Mack with the eldest Abbott brother, Ford. The family struggles through their emotions of grieving their beloved father and trying to carry on their family business after his loss.
Sutton is a woman moving through the world searching (and fighting) for her own happiness despite the pressures of her wealthy family. There’s also the pressure of a loser ex-fiancé (Camaro) and her family’s wealthy position. She shows the world she’s not afraid to push the button to fight for herself.
Without giving away too much of the story line, I’ll tell you that Wyatt and Sutton start out as a “pretend relationship”. This relationship quickly develops into something very special and both of them have a hard time defining it. They both find they have a lot in common and it was actually fun watching their relationship evolve throughout the story.
I can’t wait to read more of the Cottonbloom series and more of Laura Trentham too! If you’re looking for a fun and exciting romance, Leave the Night On is for you!

An award-winning author, Laura Trentham was born and raised in a small town in Tennessee. Although, she loved English and reading in high school, she was convinced an English degree equated to starvation. She chose the next most logical major—Chemical Engineering—and worked in a hard hat and steel toed boots for several years.
She writes sexy, small town contemporaries and smoking hot Regency historicals. The first two books of her Falcon Football series were named Top Picks by RT Book Reviews magazine. Then He Kissed Me, a Cottonbloom novel, was named as one of Amazon’s best romances of 2016. When not lost in a cozy Southern town or Regency England, she’s shuttling kids to soccer, helping with homework, and avoiding the Mt. Everest-sized pile of laundry that is almost as big as the to-be-read pile of books on her nightstand.
