A kiss to last a lifetime Aiden Gallagher was only five years old when he appeared in a photograph on the Kissing Bridge. The town of Darling, Vermont, has used Aiden’s image on the famed bridge—local legend has it that a kiss there results in everlasting love—as part of its tourism campaign.
Now, twenty years later, Aiden is asked to recreate the moment with the woman he once kissed: Laurel Stone. Recently divorced, there’s nothing Laurel wants less than to pretend happily-ever-after with Aiden. As teenagers, their romance was no fairy tale—and Laurel has never quite forgiven Aiden for breaking her heart. But now that she is back in her hometown, and keeps bumping into police officer Aiden, Laurel can’t deny that there’s still a strong flicker between her and her old flame. Could it be that the Kissing Bridge is working its magic on Laurel and Aiden—and that all true love ever needed was a second chance?
I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to be included in the Somebody Like You Blog Tour, so I wanted to make sure to share it with all of you! Somebody Like You by Donna Alward was a great book and I really enjoyed it. This book is first in the new Darling, VT series. (Read more to find out how to get the prequel to this book …..)
After she was betrayed by her now ex-husband, Laurel quit her accountant job because she just needed a fresh start so has come back to her hometown in Darling, VT and she’s now the proud owner of the Ladybug Garden Center. Because of a photo taken when she was a child, she is slightly famous in Darling. She and her childhood friend Aiden were captured when they gave each other a sweet kiss on Darling’s well-known “Kissing Bridge” when they were five years old. Unfortunately, back when they were only 17 years old, their friendship came to an end when Aiden hurt Laurel.
Aiden has always had regret for the decisions he made back when he was young. He’s a police officer in town now and of course, when he runs into Laurel because of his job he’s impressed and wants to spend more time with her but Laurel’s heart is very guarded thanks to her experience with Aiden and her ex-husband, but overall, she still believes people are good.
I loved the premise of Somebody Like You – that small town second chance romance. I also loved romantic legend of the Kissing Bridge, that whoever kisses on the bridge will have everlasting love. Ms. Alward has a great style of writing that drew me in right from the beginning. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series as they are published!

While bestselling author Donna Alward was busy studying Austen, Eliot and Shakespeare, she was also losing herself in the breathtaking stories created by romance novelists like LaVyrle Spencer, Judith McNaught, and Nora Roberts. Several years after completing her degree she decided to write a romance of her own and it was true love! Five years and ten manuscripts later she sold her first book and launched a new career. While her heartwarming stories of love, hope, and homecoming have been translated into several languages, hit bestseller lists and won awards, her very favorite thing is when she hears from happy readers!
Donna lives on Canada’s east coast with her family which includes a husband, a couple of kids, a senior dog and two crazy cats. When she’s not writing she enjoys reading (of course!), knitting, gardening, cooking…and is a Masterpiece Theater addict.
I received a complimentary ARC e-copy of this book without cost from the publisher without cost in exchange for taking part in the blog tour! Thanks so much St. Martin’s!!
