When I agreed to try ProCakes High Protein Pancake Mix, I was a little doubtful about whether they would taste as great as the traditional pancake. Now that I’ve tried these pancakes, I’m officially a believer! I was actually very surprised at how “normal” these pancakes taste. I used 2% milk just as the label suggested, along with an egg. I used one of the “single serving” packets which made three very nice sized pancakes. They cooked in the pan just like I expect pancakes to cook. They had the same texture and there was nothing unexpected or surprising about the preparation of these pancakes.
I will share my mishap, however, since you are probably wondering where the pancake pictures are! While I can cook, I prefer to be in any other room except for the kitchen. I also admittedly suffer from what I have labeled adult onset A.D.D. Anyway, somehow I looked away from the stove for just a couple of minutes and BAM! I started to smell overcooked pancakes. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to catch them before they were totally burned. I flipped the pancakes over, browned the other side perfectly and put them on a plate, stacking them “pretty side up”. I added a little bit of butter and small amount of sugar free maple syrup. The pancakes still tasted fantastic by the way!
I’m looking forward to trying different (healthier) options like peanut butter and fruit or greek yogurt in the future and paying more attention while cooking them!. Thank you, ProCakes, for creating a protein packed, low-carb option that tastes great!
