A Sister’s Wish on September 27th 2016
In Shelley Shepard Gray’s third book in her Charmed Amish Life series, a respectable young woman finds herself falling for an Amish man from the wrong side of the tracks.
Amelia Kinsinger is the perfect Amish woman—at least according to her neighbors. And while Amelia takes pride in her role as homemaker, she’s also harboring a secret: She’s been in love with bad boy Simon Hochstetler for as long as she can remember. Too bad he’s about as far from “perfect” as an Amish man could get… but that’s exactly why she’s so drawn to him.
But when Amelia gets hurt, it sets off a chain of events that forces them to consider their future together—and face their past mistakes. There’s a chance for love… but only if Simon dares to trust Amelia with the secrets of his past.
Because my mother loves books that are about the Amish life, and because I actually enjoy the author, Shelley Shepard Gray, I knew that we had to be involved in the blog tour for Ms. Gray’s two new books, A Sister’s Wish and An Amish Family Christmas. There will be a separate post for An Amish Family Christmas, but to make the pot even sweeter, there’s also a 5-book giveaway involved in this blog tour, so of course we want to let readers know about the books and the giveaway which ends on November 7!
Here’s my mom’s review of the book:
“A Sister’s Wish is the third book in The Charmed Amish Life series. I have really enjoyed this series… I could not put this book down, turning the pages quickly to see what was going to happen next.
In this book you share many challenges within the Kinsinger’s family, such as a fire at the factory that they own which took the father’s life, the mother is deceased. Each member of the Kinsinger family is affected by their parent’s death and must take on new roles both at home and the factory and they must depend upon God to get them through.
This story is primarily about the Kinsinger daughter, Amelia the youngest who has been raised in a loving family and Simon Hochstetler who grew up in a home with physical abuse. The 3 Hochstetler children ran away from home when they reached the age of fifteen. Because of Simon’s wild lifestyle and poor choices he landed in prison. While serving time in prison Simon changed. Amelia has a secret she has liked Simon since she was a young girl and he was a teenager.
Simon is back home in Charm, Ohio as a grown man and he is determined to forget his wild past and start a new life for himself. He has been in love with Amelia for years and now wants to court her. Amelia’s older brother Lukas makes it clear to his best friend Simon that she deserves someone better. Simon does not agree. God has forgiven Simon but can others forget his past? This book takes you through the relationship of Amelia and Simon as well as their siblings. Will there ever be a way for Simon and Amelia? Will Amelia still want him after learning of his past?
A Sister’s Wish is a beautiful and poignant story about forgiveness and about being forgiven. The story was very well written, but to admit the truth, I was disappointed how quickly the ending came. I was not ready for closure, and I wanted more of the story. I can’t wait until the 4th book in this series arrives.”
